About Moffitt Cancer Center
Located in Tampa, Fla., Moffitt Cancer Center is an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center. This designation recognizes Moffitt's excellence in research and contributions to clinical trials, prevention and cancer control. Moffitt currently has 14 affiliates in Florida, one in Georgia, one in Pennsylvania and two in Puerto Rico. Additionally, Moffitt is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a prestigious alliance of the country's leading cancer centers, and is listed in U.S. News & World Report as one of "America's Best Hospitals" for cancer. Moffitt's sole mission is to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer.

From 2009 to 2010, admissions increased from 7,742 to 8,616. Outpatient visits rose from 289,502 to 320,558.
Critical to the success of cancer research is project funding, particularly in the form of grants. As of October 2010, grant funding at Moffitt increased to $83.8 million, of which $75.4 million were funds from peer-reviewed grants.
Moffitt is licensed for 206 beds. Other clinical facilities include a 36-bed blood and marrow transplant unit; 12 operating rooms; a diagnostic radiology department with MRI, PET/CT, digital mammography and all other imaging capabilities; and a radiation therapy department with seven linear accelerators.
